Immune-Boosting Blueberry Smoothie
September 28, 2015
There are many aha moments in September when you can tell summer is over and fall has begun.
The leaves are turning yellow, red and brown, the air chills and the days get shorter, the Instagram feed is filled with snaps of pumpkin spice lattes, your favorite shows are no longer repeats, and a symphony of sniffles on public transportation begins.
Which can only mean one thing: we need to start worrying about colds and the flu (sigh!)
While an overall healthful diet is key in maintaining a healthy immune system all year round, I blend up this Immune Boosting Blueberry Smoothie when I think I need some extra support.
It’s a known fact that the stronger your body the more likely you’re going to duck the cold's first punch.
That’s why it’s a good idea to increase your intake of antioxidants to help out the immune system. Blueberries have some of the highest amounts of antioxidants found in any food.
I think you’re going to love this smoothie. It’s creamy, refreshing, nutrient-rich, with the right amount of sweetness, and seriously delicious.
This Immune Boosting Blueberry Smoothie is perfect when you want something healthy, filling, and that will build up your immune system.

This sounds delicious Mike. Already got my first and hopefully only cold so this is great to boost my immunity for the remainder of the season. Blueberries are just the best aren't they?
ReplyDeleteYou already got a cold? You poor thing. Then this recipe is a must!
DeleteDo you consider bad manners if I licked the outside of that jar?
ReplyDeleteI will try to be classy. Promise.
As long as you do it gracefully...
DeleteGreat idea to post something for boosting the immune system, my daughter has promptly got the flu in kindergarten and is home sick. That means that soon enough all the rest of us will get it. I think we would all love this smoothie.
ReplyDeleteI like how kids are germ spreaders...sounds like you guys are in great need of this smoothie :D
DeleteOH! I think I just left a comment in the wrong place, by the smoothie bowl. I meant to say I made THIS smoothie on Sunday and we all (including kids) loved it. Sorry about that, I just didn't look properly.
DeleteMy daughter needs this smoothie by the bucketful! I am one of those annoying people that's a "carrier" - people at work get sick and I might just get a case of the sniffles and next thing I know, my daughter and friends away from work have exactly what my co-workers have and the only common denominator is me! I guess maybe I should make this smoothie and store it in a spray bottle and spray every sniffler with it!
ReplyDeleteMan I can't stop laughing thinking about Shashi "The Carrier". Thank you so much my friend for brightening my day!
DeleteThis is an awesome smoothie recipe. My son usually gets a really bad cold every year. This smoothie would be perfect for him. He will love the tast too!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot! And you're right...cold season is right around the corner. There's nothing worse than cold season. Except maybe olives. Haha...I kid. I love olives now! Perfect timing on this smoothie, Alpha! #DrWolfpackInTheHouse

DeletePumpkins. Have you ever incorporated them into a smoothie? And ice cream too? If not, I'm challenging you, Mike! If you make this, I'll be the first to ask you an autograph:) In a meanwhile, great smoothie! You're the smoothie king.
ReplyDeleteI do love me a pumpkin smoothie, there's something very comforting about it!
DeleteI love smoothies for breakfast, and I can always use a bit of immune boosting. I started adding a bit of food based Vitamin C powder to my smoothies to boost it even further!
ReplyDeleteYou really don’t need an excuse to make this smoothie! Blueberries are sweet enough and perhaps the maple syrup isn’t that necessary in this case, I’ll try and see how it goes.
